Graduation!!!!

It finally came... the day I have been looking forward to for the past 21 years of my life! =) I graduated from Southwest TN Community College on May 1st, 2010 with a degree in Hospitality Management/ Culinary Arts!!! As I walked down the aisle along with some fellow classmates, I began to think back on the past three years. I have to admit, I cried all the way down the aisle! =) I couldnt help but remember the days when failure was all we could manage, the days of harsh criticsm, the days when I had to literally drag myself to class... and the days I walked out in tears. But then I also remembered the days when the hard work gave me an A on my exam, the days when teamwork made an event succesful, the days when Chef smacked his lips and said "Makes ya wanna slap yo' mamma!" ;)... the days when everyone was dancing along to Kirk Franklin in the kitchen, the days when I walked out with a knowing feeling that this was my dream come true... and I will never forget the night when a young lady with down-syndrome came and thanked me for cooking such good food to support her and her friends. The good days out-weighed the bad... And I can honestly say it was worth it all!!! So thankful for all of the people who cheered me on when I was "burnt-out", believed in me when I didnt believe in myself, and smiled with me when I kept going.=) You guys helped me succeed. And to my bestfriend Jesus, who never ceases to amaze me... I love You!!! ♥

Michael Jackson b-day cake

Did a Michael Jackson cake this weekend for a little boy's birthday. I have to say that this was probably one of the hardest cakes Ive done so far. But I thought it turned out pretty neat! =) Its covered in Marshmallow fondant with a cream cheese icing underneath. I painted the glove with an edible silver and covered it with silver edible glitter crystals. =)

Addalynn's Cinderella cake
I did this cupcake cake for Addalynn this weekend. Turns out to be one of my favorites, but Im just partial to Cinderella!! =) I was aiming for facial features on Cinderella... but after the third try, decided she would have no facial features. I can draw her face with a pencil... but havent quite figured out how to draw her face with icing... but Im going to keep practicing... and maybe one day I will be able to. =)
